44,The airlines was not planning to start a direct flight from Chennai in the near future as the sector would overlap with the newly linked gateway from Bangalore. The direct flight service between Bangalore and Kathmandu was pressed into operation less than three years ago.
Addressing a press conference organised by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) in connection with the launch of the Pasupati Darshan package in collaboration with the RNA, Mr Khanal said the airlines, which operates Boeing 757 with a capacity of 190 seats, is planning to acquire one more aircraft soon to provide more seats to its customers in all its route sectors. Earlier, offering Indian tourists a package to undertake a visit to the famous temple, Mr Aditya Baral, Manager, NTB, said that the main focus of the package would be on `Pasupatinath darshan'.
Royal Nepal Airlines plans to increase the frequency of its flights from Bangalore to Kathmandu from the present two flights per week to three by next year. Though the traffic with an average occupancy of more than 60 per cent per flight was good, it needed to be strengthened further before a third service could be added, Mr M.P. Khanal, Managing Director, Royal Nepal Airlines (RNA), said here today.
