Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw told the Lok Sabha on Wednesday that the Indian Railways will install safety barriers at vulnerable places to allow Vande Bharat trains to run at a speed of 110-130 kmph.

BJP MP Ghanshyam Singh Lodhi had asked about "the manner in which safety of railway lines is being ensured in view of the high speed of Vande Bharat trains". In a written reply, Vaishnaw said safety is “the top priority” for the Indian Railways. He added that railways have an established system of track inspection, maintenance and repair. He even gave a list of steps such as modern track structure, patrolling of railway lines, ultrasonic rail fault detection testing to detect defects and mechanization of track maintenance.
