Rapido launches Uber, Ola rivalling cab services in India

Rapido, known for its two-wheeler and autorickshaw services, has announced its entry into the taxi industry. The launch of the cab represents the latest step in Rapido's mission to provide an intra-city solution for all commuting needs.

By diversifying its offering, Rapido aims to become the go-to platform for a wide range of transportation needs, providing an affordable platform for travelers and benefiting captains.

With a 60% market share in bike taxis, Rapido is expanding its presence with the pan-India launch of Rapido Cabs, introducing an initial fleet of 1 lakh vehicles.

Expressing his excitement over this latest milestone, Pavan Guntupalli, Co-Founder of Rapido, said, “We are incredibly excited to introduce Rapido Cabs in India following the immense success of our bike and car taxi services across the country. Our innovative SaaS-based platform revolutionizes the conventional driver commission system and addresses the persistent challenge of sharing commissions with aggregators.

He added: "This innovative approach means drivers only have to pay a minimal fee to use the software, marking a significant change in the industry." “It also puts customers first by guaranteeing the lowest price and making our services exceptionally affordable for everyone.”

Rapido Cabs is differentiated by a SaaS-based platform with a zero commission model for cabin captains. The SaaS-based platform acts as a perfect intermediary, exclusively connecting drivers and customers without exerting control over the market.

Within the Rapido ecosystem, drivers enjoy direct payment from customers, without any intervention from Rapido. However, to maintain this model and continue providing exceptional service, drivers must pay a nominal subscription fee.

For example, by earning an income of Rs 10,000 through the Rapido app, drivers will have to pay a modest subscription fee of Rs 500. This approach ensures that drivers receive the full value of the service, allowing them to maximize their earning potential.
