LAC’s automation revolution

LAC’s automation revolution

One of the most important factors affecting operational efficiency is the rapid implementation of storage and retrieval. Combined with the need to improve storage density, the integration of advanced automated technologies stands out as the smart investment to manage these processes.

Technologies such as automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS) offer a significant opportunity to transform warehouse operations and provide innovative solutions that improve storage capabilities and operational efficiency within warehouses.

These highly advanced systems have become instrumental in driving greater efficiency and productivity, providing a welcome solution to overcome the key challenges of space limitations and optimize inventory management, as well as meeting the growing demands of today's e-commerce market.

LAC has a long history of designing and installing automated warehouse systems and is proud to partner with HUBMASTER to bring innovative ASRS technology to the warehouse industry.

HUBMASTER specializes in providing space-optimizing warehouse automation solutions for stacker cranes, designed to increase storage density and accelerate warehousing, putaway and retrieval operations. Its highly flexible ASRS systems can be hung above the building or on existing racks, reducing installation space.

With many different operating configurations available, the versatile systems can be integrated into numerous industrial sectors, including the food and beverage industry. At a client's wine and spirits storage facility, HUBMASTER was instrumental in improving the overall picking and distribution process by installing an automated storage and retrieval system that managed 11,000 pallets.

Typically, this industry requires significant storage capacity due to the volume and wide range of products. The client was faced with a lack of storage space and inefficient use of the existing warehouse. Additionally, the use of labor for the picking process was costly and affected the efficiency of order fulfillment.

To overcome these challenges, a new system was installed, consisting of three HUBMASTER large-span automatic multi-aisle stacking cranes, traveling along rails supported by the building itself, each serving five aisles.

The cranes are extremely maneuverable and can move at high speed through the aisles to both store and remove pallets from shelves. Once out of the aisle, the cranes move at a reduced speed, controlled by integrated sensors, to avoid potential collisions with personnel, product or infrastructure.

Equally effective for the automotive sector, a client was looking for an automated solution capable of storing and retrieving small, delicate thermoformed molds. This would reduce the risk of accidents and potential damage to molds currently experienced due to manual handling and improve the speed of the overall picking process. Equally important to the client was increasing the density of product storage to free up valuable space needed for other production processes.

The HUBMASTER stacker crane was fully integrated with its racking system and managed through its HMWare® Warehouse Control System software, allowing real-time control and tracking of its inventory. Overall, the solution has fully automated its processes, improved efficiency and reduced labor costs, freeing up the existing workforce to pursue additional value-added tasks.

Technologies such as HUBMASTER ASRS systems provide a flexible, efficient and cost-effective solution to today's warehouse optimization challenges. Contact the LAC team today to discover how automated solutions can support and improve your operations.
