The Ministry of Shipping has instructed all major ports to set up sufficient infrastructure by 2025 to achieve 0% waiting time for incoming and outgoing goods.
The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) states in an office memorandum that the need for port capacity in 2047 will be almost six times greater than the current port capacity.
According to the report, major ports need to make thorough planning. If there are restrictions on waterfronts and/or land availability, the major ports will explore the idea of establishing satellite ports.
The memorandum showed that the main port authorities must draw up an integrated master plan for the entire port area by 2047, including freight forecasting, warehousing and other aspects, with the ultimate goal of efficient logistics for economic development.
