The ministry stated that no power plants have been closed due to a lack of coal.
The submitted DPR is currently under review and awaiting final approval from the Government of Uttar Pradesh. After approval, the government will decide on the number of stations and the funding pattern for the project.
In addition to this metro section, YEIDA has been tasked with establishing a high-speed metro connection between the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar and the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. This connection aims to enable fast and efficient travel between the two airports.
Arun Vir Singh, CEO of YEIDA, confirmed the DPR's submission for the Knowledge Park-2 section to New Delhi and stated that they are awaiting government approval and further guidance on the progress of the project.
The proposed locations for the seven metro stations along the route have not been disclosed by YEIDA or DMRC officials. Some of the proposed stations in the plan may include Botanical Garden and Akshardham, but specific details remain secret.
The metro corridor is expected to be developed in two parts: the first part covers 35.64 km from Jewar to Knowledge Park-2 in Greater Noida and the second part covers 36.36 km from Knowledge Park-2 to New Delhi, where commuters can connect to the existing Airport Express Line.
Yeida estimates suggest that the first phase of Jewar airport is expected to be operational by the end of September 2024. On the first day, nearly 5 million passengers are expected to use Noida International Airport.
