Last week, Rail Vikas Nigam (RVNL) announced in a regulatory filing that they had been declared the lowest bidder for package C-01 in Reach 2A of Nagpur Metro's phase 2 project, which spans a distance of 6.92 kilometers. The 13-kilometer elevated Reach 2A will establish a connection between Nagpur Metro's Orange Line, 19,658 kilometers in length and completed during Phase 1, and the Kanhan River. This connection is made possible by the construction of 12 elevated stations.
The construction of stations and the viaduct that connects them are tendered separately. The scope of work for package C-01 focuses exclusively on the viaduct, which extends from the east of Automotive Square Station to Lekha Nagar Station.
In February 2023, Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (MAHA-METRO) issued an invitation to submit bids for the construction project, without specifying the budget, with a targeted completion period of 30 months. Technical bids were issued in April 2023.
RVNL submitted a tender for the project. The short scope of the work includes designing and building an elevated subway viaduct over a length of 6.92 kilometers, starting at Ch. (-) 657,182 meters and ending at Ch. (-) 7576.78 meters within Reach 2A of NMRP Phase-2.
Package C-05, on the other hand, will be used to build six stations, namely Pili Nadi, Khasara Fata, All India Radio, Kheri Fata, Lok Vihar and Lekha Nagar. These stations are currently being built. Bids were requested in March 2023 and technical bids were opened on 14 June.
