On CUMTA’s recommendation, CMRL will extend its metro network

Chennai :

The upcoming bus station in Kuthambakkam in the western suburbs, which is expected to operational in July or August this year, has been proposed by the Chennai Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (CUMTA) as a potential extension of metro connections by the Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL).

The terminus near Thirumazhisai will cover 25 hectares and 30 private service lanes and 70 bays of mofussil government bus lanes for buses that run to western cities such as Bengaluru and Krishnagiri. In addition, there will be 36 places for MTC buses.

It is advised that CMRL starts the expansion construction quickly, since 70% of wi-fi-enabled, high-quality tech Kuthambakkam terminus is now ready. The only projects still in progress are the escalators, EB substations, toilets and composite wall.
