APM Terminals Mumbai [GTI] partnered with Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) to export the first shipment of aviation fuel AVGAS 100 LL from India.
"AVGAS 100 LL is used in training aircraft. The IOC will produce the fuel in India from September 2022. This is the first time AVGAS 100 LL is exported from India," according to a release of APM Terminals.
The 80-barrel AVGAS 100 LL container was safely loaded onto MV Sofia, a Maersk service vessel, the release added. The export event was flagged off by Shrikant Vaidya, Chairman and Managing Director of the IOC, Unmesh Wagh, Vice Chairman, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) and Sunay Mukerjee, Chief Operating Officer, GTI.
"We at GTI are very humbled and honored to be part of the Indian government's vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India by facilitating the first shipment of AVGAS 100 LL export from our terminal," mukerjee said. "We are grateful to the IOC for choosing our terminal for this historic milestone. We are committed to serving our customers by safely and quickly turning their cargo around our terminal."
