According to a prominent government official, the PM Gati Shakti project will make a significant contribution to reduce logistics costs, increase productivity and help businesses. All infrastructure logistics and connectivity projects costing more than INR 5 billion are channelled through the NPG (network planning group), established as part of the PM Gati Shakti initiative.
During the opening session of the B20 Inception Meeting, organized by CII, Anurag Jain, secretary in Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) stated: "PM Gati Shakti will play an important role in reducing logistical obstacles, increasing logistics efficiency and profiting the companies." The PM Gati Shakti platform has more than 1,600 data layers, he says.
For a uniform planning and integration of the ideas, the NPG has representation of different connectivity infrastructure ministries/departments involve their heads of network planning division. The goal of the PM Gati Shakti is to eliminate departmental silos and implement more comprehensive and integrated project planning and execution to address the issues with last-mile connectivity and multimodal transport. with regard to topics such as land, forests, mines and current infrastructure.
