The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) will soon start developing the land given to it by the Local Development Authority in CG City, Lucknow. Commissioned by the state government, the consultant-architect selection process has begun for asset development on the 86.83 acres of land received from the LDA.
According to officials, the plan is to develop both homes and business premises on this piece of land. These properties will be developed to generate maximum revenue for UPMRC.
The property of CG City is very important for the commercial viability of Lucknow Metro so that they can keep passenger fares low. Currently, the metro runs between 21 stations over a distance of 22.8 km from the airport to Munshi Pulia in the capital. The fare has not been revised since the start of commercial flights. However, there is constant pressure to raise rates. With this in mind, UPMRC is trying to generate revenue from other sources.
Meanwhile, the development advisor selection process for the country is expected to be completed next month. After this, the project design and detailed project report (DPR) are made. Metro plans to start construction work on the land in 2024.
