Port-Maduravoyal project to be awarded by March '23

The work contract for the two-tiered elevated road project in Chennai Port-Maduraivoal will be awarded in March next year, according to the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways in Parliament. Responding to a question from DMK MP TR Baalu, the union minister stated that bids for the project have been invited and it is expected to be awarded in March 2023. After the award, the work will start. Gadkari stated that the elevated road project is part of the PM Gati-Shakti National Master Plan and is expected to be completed within 30 months.

The two-level elevated highway is 20,565 km long and is divided into four parcels, with a total estimated cost of Rs. 56.11 billion, according to the minister. In July this year, the National Highways Authority of India invited bids for the construction of the two-tiered four-lane elevated corridor. The causeway would be a double layer between Port and Koyambedu, with seven entrances and exits for non-port vehicles.
