About 76% of work on MTHL project completed till now: MMRDA

Mumbai :

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) told media that about 76% of the work on the Mumbai Trans-Harbour Link (MTHL) project has been completed and plans to complete the remaining works by September 2023.

The MMRDA is the executive authority for the 21.8 km six-lane MTHL project. The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is funding the project.

When completed, it would be the longest sea bridge in India and could carry 70,000 vehicles per day. Maharashtra Tourism and Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray visited the project site in the Sewri area and monitored the progress of the project.

According to a statement, the work of the MTHL project is in three distinct phases.

From the six nodes of the MTHL in the Sewri area, the work of the C-2, the ramp is completed to the sub-base, the work of the 4 km spread to the decking of the original bridge from this access road, is also completed.

Now that the work of the 4 km dispersion of the C-2 access road from the original bridge has been completed, the contractor can transport construction materials for the project from the access road to the original bridge work, which will speed up the construction pace.

Previously, the temporary bridges and lifts were used for bridge work and inspection. According to MMRDA, this is a landmark project as it will be possible to drive on the main bridge of MTHL on the roads of Mumbai.
