The proposed 350 km Hyderabad Regional Ring Road (HRRR) project would be implemented through the center as Phase 1 of the Bharatmala Pariyojana along the NH-161 Sangareddy-Narsapur-Tupran-Gajwel-Yadagirigutta-Choutuppal section.
According to an announcement by the Union Minister of Tourism and Culture Kishan Reddy, the center is investing more than Rs 1 lakh crore in ongoing and upcoming national highway projects in Telangana, including Rs 200 billion in the Hyderabad Regional Ring Road project.
Since the BJP-led government came to power in the center in 2014, highway construction has surpassed the number built by previous federal governments between 1947 and 2014.
Between 1947 and 2014, the total length of state highways was 2,500 km. An additional 2,500 km was built between 2014 and 2022, increasing the length of national roads
In addition, Reddy noted that prior to the pandemic-related delays, highway construction peaked at 364.71 km per year in 2018-2019, compared to a peak of about 139.33 km per year in 2014-2015.
