Andhra Pradesh Minister of Roads and Buildings, Dadisetti Raja, said this week that 8,000 km of roads have been built in the state under the current government at a cost of Rs 20 billion.
Attending the swearing-in ceremony of the members of the Andhra Pradesh Road Development Corporation in Vijayawada, he said that the previous government had taken Rs 3,000 crore for the development of R&B roads in the state, but the funds for the 'Pasupu and Kumkuma ' program had redirected.
The minister roundly blamed the previous regime for the abysmal state of the roads in the state while saying that the current government has spent Rs 20 billion to repair those roads while another Rs 170 billion will be spent for a full transformation of these roads in the next 13 months.
The latest technology is being applied to repair the existing roads and build new roads in the state, he added.
