As the center aims to rapidly ramp up India's infrastructure (infra) and logistics sector, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) is identifying nine high impact infrastructure projects of Rs 1,913 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Gati Shakti. -National Master Plan (NMP).
The impactful projects that will be closely monitored in 2022-23.
According to a senior official, they have identified 101 projects with a total estimated cost of Rs 62,627 crore under the Gati Shakti National Master Plan (NMP). These are expected to be completed in 2024 and the target for the nine high-impact projects is this fiscal year.
An official part of the network planning group Gati Shakti (NPG), which oversees project management for the integrated infrastructure development program, stated that two of these nine projects, namely Visakhapatnam Port, a container terminal extension and New Mangalore Port -mechanisation of container terminal have already been completed.
Other high impact projects in the pipeline have reached an advanced stage of completion. Almost half of the total identified projects will be implemented by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). Five of the identified projects will be carried out by major ports at an estimated cost of Rs 900 crore. The others will be completed by the Inland Waterways Authority of India.
Out of the 101 Gati Shakti pipeline projects, seven projects worth Rs 2,369 crore have been completed so far. The government accelerated high-impact projects of Rs 1,913 crore under Prime Minister Gati Shakti.
