Skye Air Mobility is conducting a three-day drone delivery trial with Vegrow in Himachal Pradesh to deliver more than 100kg of apples from farmland to the Vegrow Hub, addressing a larger transportation problem that exists today.

Vegrow is the top fruit trade in India. The company is active in the sale of fresh fruits and vegetables, with an addressable market of $43 billion. Through partnerships, the technology platform collaborates with farmers by bundling supply and selling it to organized demand.

The three-day trials began in Nichar in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh from November 11 to November 14. Skye Air has used its most reliable UAV, Skye Ship One, to enable real-time deliveries. Before the trials, Skye Ship One had a payload of 5 kg per flight and 4-8 flights per day were scheduled. Upon completion of these three days of trials, Vegrow will build a business case to roll out drone deliveries at scale in the region.

It is worth noting that Skye Air has successfully delivered more than 7.20,000 packages across India in recent months. Also, earlier this year in July, Skye Air Mobility entered into an agreement with HPSEDC (H.P. State Electronics Development Corporation Ltd.) to provide its support by offering delivery as a service in the state of Himachal Pradesh.

Skye Air already operates flights in the Mandi district and is making its mark on the state through its efficient and cost-effective deliveries.
