According to PL Haranadh, chairman of Paradip Port Authority (PPA), who made the announcement, Paradip Port will develop into a Mega Port with a capacity of 500 MMT by 2047.

At an event organized by PPA on the occasion of Kartika Purnima, Haranadh stated that the port is on track to reach the 125 MMT Cargo Handling milestone in the current fiscal year.

The port is set to become India's largest capacity port in the next two years as approximately 100 MMT capacity projects are awarded.

By 2047, the port would grow to 500 MMT. According to Haranadh, the state and central government apparatus will be much more efficient with port connectivity projects including rail, road, waterways, conveyor belts and pipelines under the PM Gati Shakti Master Plan.

In 2025 it will be a Smart Digital Port. The chairman of the PPA states that the advanced port management system will be installed within a year and that 1.07,000 trees have already been planted as part of the green port project this year. He added that 1 million nearby plantations will be completed by 2025.
