Adani Ports forays into Bengal with Haldia project

HDC Bulk Terminal, an Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) subsidiary, will modernise the Haldia port in West Bengal at a cost of Rs 2.98 billion, marking the Ahmedabad-based conglomerate's entry into the state's ports sector. The company reportedly shared after the concession agreements for the mechanisation of berth number 2 were signed that the upgrade of Haldia bulk terminal is an opportunity to firmly establish APSEZ's footprint in West Bengal. APSEZ was also the highest bidder for the Mamata Banerjee government's Rs 70 billion Tajpur deep sea port project, but the contract has yet to be awarded. Adani Wilmar, another group company, operates an edible oil plant in Haldia.
