Two rail projects to gain traction under Shinde’s regime

Two rail projects to gain traction under Shinde’s regime

Two expensive infrastructure projects in Nashik will gain traction under the incoming government of Eknath Shinde. The Union Cabinet's final approval for the Nashik Metro Neo and Nashik-Pune semi-high-speed train corridors is still pending. despite the fact that the responsible focal points have already started to set up the framework for its implementation.

Both projects were 'pet projects' of former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, according to government sources. They are hopeful that the current administration will pay more attention to these two projects, given the Center's pressure to expand infrastructure across several sectors.

The fact that Fadnavis stated that infrastructure development in the state had taken a "back seat" during the previous MVA administration during a media interview in Mumbai lends validity to the government officials' observations.

Nashik Neo is implemented by Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha metro), while Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (MRIDC) is responsible for the Nashik-Pune railway project.

When it comes to the Metro Neo project, Nashik will be the first city in the country where rubber-tyred metro buses would travel on elevated corridors instead of the traditional metro buses.
