UP to have metros in 8 to 10 cities in the near future: Kumar Keshav

Uttar Pradesh is doing well in infrastructure development. The state government has allocated Rs 2,650 crore for the completion of ongoing metro projects in Kanpur, Agra and the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project. In addition, it has also allocated Rs 100 crore to metro rail projects proposed for Gorakhpur, Varanasi and other cities.

Uttar Pradesh has an operational metro in five cities. We've done Lucknow; the Ghaziabad and Noida are by metro from Delhi; Greater Noida is a separate metro that is already in use; and the Kanpur subway at 9 km is a recent start on December 28, 2021. We completed it in just two years and a month and a half and the Prime Minister dropped off the first train, in which he also traveled. These five metros are already in use in Uttar Pradesh.
