The National Highways wing of the State Highways Department has accelerated overpass construction work at GN Mills and Periyanaickenpalayam with the opening of two overpasses in the city last week.

The GN Mills flyover will be completed in two months, while the Periyanaickenpalayam flyover will be completed in February next year.

Construction works for the GN Mills viaduct started in March 2019. Previously, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) had decided to build a viaduct on Mettupalayam Road at the GN Mills Junction and conducted two pile load tests, which were inconclusive. and later the third pile load test was successful.
