Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) will establish India's first rail wheelset manufacturing facility at its Raigarh facility in Chhattisgarh.

JSPL is collaborating with GIFLO Steel - Hungary for this project. On Friday, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for technology partnership was signed between GIFLO Steel -Hongary and Jindal Steel in New Delhi.

The move to set up a rail wheelset manufacturing facility in the country is essential as India meets most of its need of around 60,000 wheels per year through imports.

This development comes just weeks after Indian Railways launched a tender to supply 39,000 wheels to a company that will manufacture in China.
