The central government has approved Rs 180 crore to rebuild the railway network in Assam's Dima Hasao district, which was devastated by floods and landslides.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma acknowledged the contribution of Rs 180 crore from the Center for restoration efforts.
Sarma said the Ministry of Railways also informed them that the repair work on the railway network in the Dima Hasao area would be completed by July 10 this year.
He said repairing the damaged sections of the critical rail link would restore the link between the Barak and Brahmaputra valleys in Assam and connect Tripura, Mizoram and parts of Manipur with the rest of the country.
