The CMA CGM Group will implement the shipping industry's first Early Container Return Incentive Program at the FMS terminal in Los Angeles and at all CMA CGM return locations in Chicago, Dallas, Kansas City and Memphis.
“The program will begin on May 16, 2022 and will run through July 15, 2022 with the goal of accelerating the return of empty containers and ensuring that U.S. exporters have even more access to equipment.” according to an official statement.
“CMA CGM is committed to increasing the fluidity and speed of the US supply chain,” said Ed Aldridge, President, CMA CGM and APL North America. "Our new program will result in incentive credit for our importers, improve equipment availability for our exporters and accelerate the flow of goods to and from the homeland of the Americas. It really is a win-win situation for everyone."
Gene Seroka, Executive Director, Port of Los Angeles, added: “With this incentive program, the CMA CGM Group is facilitating a more robust flow of goods through the Port of Los Angeles and helping US exporters get their product to destinations around the world quickly. ."
The new initiative is CMA's second incentive program in the US, following the early container pickup incentive program launched in late 2021 at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.
