KEC International Ltd. and BNC Power Projects Ltd. (BNCPPL) have emerged as the lowest bidders for two electrification packages, TR-02 and TR-03, under the Nagpur Metro Phase 2 project, spanning 43.8 km.
KEC International won package TR-02 with a bid of Rs 2.07 billion, slightly higher than the estimated Rs 2.05 billion. This package includes design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of 25kV flexible overhead equipment (OHE) system and section posts over ground and elevated sections.
BNC Power has secured package TR-03 with a bid of Rs 3.81 billion after a discount, 10.72% above the estimate of Rs 3.44 billion. It includes installation and commissioning of 33kV cable network, Auxiliary Substation (ASS), Receiving Substation (RSS) and SCADA system, and is potentially heading to the negotiating table.
Technical bids for these packages were opened earlier this year, attracting competition from Siemens-RVNL JV, Texmaco Rail and Engineering and Kalpataru Projects International. The contracts have a timeline of 180 weeks (approximately 3.5 years).
The Nagpur Metro Phase 2 project, aimed at expanding the city’s metro network, will improve connectivity and ease traffic congestion by connecting key areas. The electrification work will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations. Other system-related packages such as E&M-02 and T-01 have been awarded to Colossus Infra and Rahee Infratech respectively, as Maha-Metro expedites the construction of the project to improve Nagpur’s public transport infrastructure.
