India’s Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) is set to launch a Maritime Strategy Dialogue modelled on the famous Raisina Dialogue, with an aim to advance global maritime goals. This new initiative underscores India’s growing focus on maritime diplomacy and strategic engagement in the international maritime arena.
The upcoming dialogue will bring together global maritime leaders, policymakers and experts to discuss and develop strategies for sustainable maritime growth. The move by the MoPSW is seen as part of India’s broader effort to play a more significant role in shaping the global maritime agenda, in line with international goals such as climate action, sustainable development and maritime security.
The dialogue will focus on critical issues such as maritime infrastructure development, green shipping, maritime safety and blue economy initiatives. By promoting cooperation between countries, the event aims to address common challenges and explore new opportunities in the maritime sector.
Minister Sarbananda Sonowal stressed that this dialogue would not only enhance India's maritime capabilities but also contribute to global efforts to achieve a sustainable and secure maritime environment. The initiative is expected to strengthen India's maritime diplomacy, enhance international partnerships and promote India as a major player in the global maritime domain.
Through this strategic dialogue, India aims to make a significant contribution to global maritime governance and policy-making, thereby further strengthening its commitment to sustainable development and international cooperation in the maritime sector.
