In a bid to expand its footprint in the international market, state-run Rail Vikas Nigam has incorporated a subsidiary company “Rail Vikas Nigam LLC” in Uzbekistan.
The Navratna company, which bagged its first overseas project in Maldives, has been actively participating in various bids in the international market.
In a recent conference call, Rajesh Prasad, Director of operations, Rail Vikas Nigam said that in the financial year FY 2023-24, it has participated in 142 bids, taking the total bids cumulative up to March, to 286, costing over Rs 1.5 lakh crore.
“And we have backed so many projects. The success rate is more than 20 per cent. We have also submitted bids in the international market, Bangladesh, Maldives, Sri Lanka, UAE, Oman, and Rwanda, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, Nepal. So, we are trying to increase our footprints,” he said.
He further said that the company has also submitted the expression of interest in Botswana Railways, then Namibia Trans Kalhari project team. “We are trying to increase our footprints. We have already opened international offices in South Africa, Oman, UAE, Maldives. In time to come, we want to increase our footprint. And we are very keen to increase the order book. Presently, the order book is around 85,000 crore,” he added.
