Indian Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has announced plans for a phased redevelopment of the Pune railway station, with a focus on preserving and reflecting the city’s heritage and culture.

The Minister and senior railway officials recently conducted an inspection of the railway station and highlighted the importance of developing the Pune-Lonavla Ghat section and the Kasara-Igatpuri section. These projects are deemed crucial for ensuring safe train movement. The particular sections are known for their challenging terrain, including slopes, sharp turns and elevations, which necessitates the need for development.

The state government is currently in discussions with the Centre concerning matters related to the Pune-Nashik semi high-speed rail project.
