The Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) has started a cosmetic treatment program for the half-baked cement roads in the twin city of Mira Bhayandar. This move aims to improve the surface quality and address the ongoing issues faced by commuters due to incomplete roadworks.

The cosmetic treatment consists of applying a bituminous layer to the existing cement roads to smooth the surface and improve drivability. This method is seen as a temporary solution to reduce the inconvenience and dangers caused by the unfinished roads, which have long been a concern for residents.

MBMC officials stated that the decision to undergo cosmetic treatment was taken to provide immediate relief to the public ahead of extensive road reconstruction projects. The initiative is expected to cover several major roads in the city, prioritizing areas with the most traffic and complaints from residents.

The treatment process involves cleaning the existing road surface, applying an adhesive layer and then applying a bituminous layer. This approach not only improves the surface finish, but also extends the life of the existing road by protecting it from further deterioration.

MBMC has assured that the cosmetic treatment is only an emergency measure and that plans for extensive road repairs and upgrades are already in the pipeline.
