The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), Etihad Airways, and AD Ports Group have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to bolster Abu Dhabi’s position as a global pharmaceutical and life sciences distribution hub.

The partnership will leverage Abu Dhabi’s strategic location, advanced healthcare infrastructure, and lucrative investment opportunities to attract pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical technology companies.

Strengthening Abu Dhabi’s global presence

By collaborating, these entities will ensure timely access to innovative healthcare products for patients across the region, reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s role in global pharmaceutical supply chains.

The agreement aligns with the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030, aiming to position Abu Dhabi as a leading healthcare destination globally.

The strategic partnership will create attractive value propositions for companies to establish operations in Abu Dhabi.

These companies will benefit from DoH’s regulatory framework, ADIO’s investment platform, Etihad Cargo’s air freight expertise, and AD Ports’ robust logistics infrastructure.

Dr Asma Ibrahim Al Mannaei highlighted the initiative’s importance, “This MoU reaffirms DoH’s commitment to transforming the regional healthcare ecosystem, enhancing healthcare outcomes, and improving lives across the region. Establishing this hub will solidify Abu Dhabi’s position in the global pharmaceutical industry, driving economic growth and job creation for Emirati citizens.”

Enhancing healthcare and economic growth

Under the MoU, the partners will collaborate to ensure timely access to innovative healthcare products and promote sustainable economic growth and diversification in the healthcare and life sciences sectors.

The agreement includes plans to support local manufacturing and packaging of pharmaceutical products, enhancing local capabilities.
