Nearly 200 trees are being moved for road expansion in Nalgonda. The translocation began on April 26.
The Nalgonda collector told the media that the relocation of trees would be phased. In the first phase, about 50 trees would be moved.
Uday Krisha, founder and chairman of the Vata Foundation, said a dozen trees have already been moved for roads.
The city district and infrastructure administration were more concerned with moving trees.
With the involvement of Rajya Sabha MP J Santosh Kumar, the translocation was also started in Mahbubnagar, along with Nalgonda, as part of the Green India Challenge. At least five decades old tamarind, neem and banyan trees were moved to Charlapally Urban Park on the Nalgonda ring road.
