In 1960, American Standard Inc, recognized that partnerships with transportation companies were essential to maximize customer service while keeping distribution costs under control. To take full advantage of these benefits, a private fleet was established with the intent to fully integrate the inbound movement of raw materials and the outbound movement of finished goods with the manufacturing process.
American Standard Inc which was incorporated in 1974. As a for hire contract carrier regulated by the Interstate Commerce Commission, Amstan was able to offer its services to companies outside the American Standard family. This additional business, both complemented American Standard business by providing lane balance, and supplemented the internal business, which enabled Amstan to grow.
