Bharat Mumbai Container Terminals Private Limited is located in Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNP) in Maharashtra, India’s largest and premier container gateway. It serves the important industrial and manufacturing centres and cities in Northwest India, as well as India’s largest hinterland with a population in excess of 400 million.
The development of PSA Mumbai, JNP’s fourth container terminal, will cater to the ever-increasing demand for container handling capacity, boost export / import trade and increase economic activities between India and other countries.
Bharat Mumbai Container Terminals Private Limited is fully completed, it will have a berth length of 2,000 metres and the deepest berths in JNP to handle large super post-panamax vessels. Chennai Container Terminal Pvt Ltd is the first container terminal, built at Chennai Port in 1983, South India’s largest gateway to container trade. The container terminal was privatized in 2001, and we took over and commenced operations on November 30th that year.

Chowgule Steamships Limited was incorporated in April, 1963, with three liberty ships to facilitate the transportation needs of iron ore exports of its parent company, Chowgule & Company Pvt. Ltd. With the changing fortunes of the steel industry by the early 1980’s, virtually all the ships of CSL were deployed on the international cross trades.
Chowgule Steamships Limited has emerged as a pioneer in the Indian shipping sector. It not only built the first Indian bulk carrier for an Indian owner, named M.V. Maratha Progress, but also pioneered the first Indian phosphoric acid carrier by converting a dry bulk vessel. It started the Indian coastal trade by transporting clinker to split plants at Ratnagiri and Magdalla, which led to the development of minor ports in Gujarat and Maharashtra.
Chowgule Steamships Limited has an international Handysize vessel M.V. Maratha Promise of 37,187 DWT age of eight years. Vessel is engaged in time charters with reputed international charterers, moving bulk cargoes like grain, coal, fertilisers, steel, alumina etc.
