Electric Boat is not a float in the Disney Electric Light Parade. Electric Boat designs, builds, and maintains nuclear attack and ballistic-missile submarines for the US Navy. A subsidiary of defense giant General Dynamics, Electric Boat was established in 1899 and won its first US Navy contract the next year. It has delivered the lead ship of the Virginia class (USS Virginia-SSN774) and its third and final Seawolf-class submarine (Jimmy Carter-SSN23) to the US Navy, and is working on several Virginia-class submarines with Northrop Grumman. Electric Boat continues to provide support and maintenance for Seawolf-, Ohio-, and Los Angeles-class submarines. Electric Boat operates in Connecticut and Rhode Island.
